2025 Trail Warrior Award Recipient - Jamie Studebaker. Sunflower BCHKS member Jamie Studebaker was recognized as the 2025 Trail Warrior at the BCHKS Annual Meeting, Feb. 7. Jamie's contributions to trail maintenance encompass several public trails; as she says, "If I'm riding, I'm trimming!" She's also not afraid to dismount and tackle jobs requiring a chainsaw. Jamie is a consistent cheerleader for BCHKS and the mission to keep Kansas public trails open for future generations. Read Jamie's nomination for this award.
Trails Warrior State Award
In an effort to get more BCHKS members to track and turn in volunteer hours and to recognize members' hard work, the state chapter has developed the Trails Warrior Award. This annual award will recognize one member each year who has gone above and beyond the norm in maintaining our equestrian trails and promoting Back Country Horsemen.
Each chapter may nominate one member and provide documented hours along with a written testimonial as to why this member deserves this award. A committee chaired by a National Director and made up of each chapter’s state representative will select the recipient. Nominations and all paperwork are due to the National Director by January 7 of the following year. The winner will be announced at the annual meeting.
Use the attached Logsheet to keep a detailed record of volunteer hours for BCHKS or turn hours in electronically with Jotform. Keeping equestrian trails open and in good condition is just one way to promote BCHKS, but running a chainsaw is not the only way to help. Members that work tirelessly behind the scenes putting on rides and representing us at local, state and national events are just as important. Start tracking your voluntary hours and service!
Thank you all for being members of BCHKS!!!
